CALL FOR ENTRIES

Residents of Matagorda County are invited to submit their original photographs or artwork of their pet(s) from May 2nd - June 3rd, 2022 to be considered to appear in our upcoming exhibition titled "Dog Days of Matagorda County." 

The public is welcome to submit all kinds of pets. You are not limited to only dogs or cats. For example, reptiles, horses, gerbils, etc. are acceptable as long as you consider the animal to be a pet and it is treated as such.

PHOTOGRAPH ENTRIES:

All photographs submitted are allow to have basic editing to enhance color, the use of a filter, or cropping. Advanced editing used to manipulate or create illusions are not allowed. 

Photographs must be submitted printed as a portrait or landscape of at least 8in x 8in and no larger than 11in x 14in. 

Depending on the quantity of entries, not all photographs will be exhibited. 

Entries will be automatically excluded if they do not follow the basic editing rules outlined above. 

ARTWORK ENTRIES:

Artwork must be no smaller than 8in x 10in and no larger than 16in x 20in. 

Acceptable mediums include acrylic or oil on canvas, mixed media art (must be mountable), watercolor, pencil/charcoal drawing, pastels. 

HOW TO ENTER & ENTRY FEES:

$10 per entry, up to 5 entries allowed. You may mix and match your entries (photographs, painting, watercolor, mixed media, etc.). 

All entries must dropped off at the City by the Sea Museum during business hours. 

Each entry will need to be accompanied by the artist/photograper name, pet's name, phone number, email address, and a short caption or story about your pet. Forms will be made available at the museum.

If you would like your entry back, they may be picked up at City by the Sea Museum between August 1 - August 13 during business hours. We will call to remind you. 

JUDGING:

All entries will be reviewed by a panel of guest judges (to be announced).

Awards will be given to the top 5 entries. These winning photographs/artworks will be noted in the exhibition and small awards given.

PROCEEDS:

A portion of proceeds will be donated to Palacios Pet Pals.
