On the 3rd Saturday of February, the museum hosts African American Heritage Day in which residents celebrate their history through an afternoon program.

The Brown Bag Chats are held on the 3rd Thursday of each month from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department - Coastal Fisheries Division.
